Nutrition Program
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequential government restrictions, the economic decline will have a catastrophic impact in food safety and the overall living situation of the most vulnerable population we have served in Guatemala and southern Mexico.

GUATEMALA
Guatemala’s malnourished children take up to 46.5% of such demographic. These rates will escalate dramatically with the current impact of COVID-19, as its economic consequences will lead to reduced access to basic food products thus accelerating extreme and potentially irreversible effects such as delayed development and growth.

SOUTHERN MEXICO
-
1.5 million children suffer from malnutrition in Mexico, most of which are part of indigenous groups.
-
Children in southern Mexico are twice as likely to be underweight and underdeveloped in comparison to those in the north.
-
According to the National Child Nutrition Ranking (RANNI), the rates of anemia in Mexican children are higher than those of some African nations.

COMMON FACTS AMONG BOTH COUNTRIES
-
Infants between 1 and 2 years of age, have the highest levels of malnutrition, which suggests that they are still being breastfed instead of fed with proper solid foods
-
Mexico is number tenth in the countries with the highest malnutrition rates
-
Over 1.5 million children are hungry and malnourished (yo quitaría esto)
-
Between both countries, there are over 2.3 million children living without basic food products
Due to the cease of commercial and production in these countries, the poverty rates are increasing at an alarming rate.

Global Opportunity, through the Emergency Family Nutrition Program, seeks to mitigate malnutrition in children and pregnant women and its effects in their families.

With your donation, you're not only helping one child, but their families and entire communities.
Let’s break the circle of poverty together.
